In her first appearance she rams into Yuuichi while running from a vendor who she just bought food from with a five-fingered discount. ^_~ As children, Yuuichi tried hard to cheer up the young Ayu after her mother died, and they were friends when younger, but older Yuuichi remembers none of it. At least, not at first, but he keeps having dreams that remind him of his past with Ayu. From the get-go Ayu is cheerful, cute, and completely fine with stealing food. ^_^ She loves Tayuki, which are little fish-shaped thingys filled with bean-jam, and coincidently happens to order a batch and then forget she never has money. Ayu is an interesting character to say the least. She goes to a different school than the rest of the crowd, but still manages to run into (literally) Yuuichi on a regular basis near the train station and other places. Ayu tends to talk rather boyishly and acts somewhat flippant of societal norms (like the act of having to pay for things... hint hint...), but she and Yuuichi get along pretty well regardless. She can't cook to save her life, though. ^_~ Ayu has a neat little backpack with angel wings on it and always has a red hairband on her head. She also wears cute little oversized boots that manage to fit the oxymoron just used to describe them rather well. ^_^ She had a fairly important role in Yuuichi's past, if only he'd remember...... Ayu is the mysterious girl that crashes in to Yuuichi in the shopping center. She always carries a backpack with wings, and loves taiyaki (a fresh baked fish-shaped pancake that contains red bean filling). She seems to be looking for something everyday, but that thing she lost never seems to be found... In-Depth: No doubt the main "girl" of the series, Ayu has a special connection to Yuuichi. With the heart of a child, even in her spirit-physical form, she continues to wait for Yuuichi, her childhood friend. She tries her best, even if she is not always successful. Overall cute, especially with her attempt to bake cookies, Ayu proves to be reliable on taking care of Akiko-san when Akiko-san fell sick and humble, for even after her departure from the earth she told Yuuichi to forget about her if it would make things better for him with Nayuki. Ayu is a lost girl who wanders the town square stealing taiyaki (jam and pancakes in the shape of a fish). She never attends school and talks like a boy. Someone 'special to' her introduced taiyaki to Ayu seven years ago...

IMAGE HERE This is Ayu's main outfit which she is in most of the time and what she was wearing in her first appearance in the episodes. She wears a yellowish, beige coat lined with a brown and yellow window-like pattern along with brown mittons. Underneath the coat is a white lined turtleneck shirt and classic blue, somewhat baggy shorts. She wears black boots that are a little too big for her with gray and red diamond socks. The accessories include a black, mini backpack with white angel wings and a red headband.

IMAGE HERE This is Ayu's childhood outfit which is in the flashbacks. She wears a light pink turtleneck shirt with a magenta and white, triangle design across the front and a blue pleated skirt with a white line about an inch up from the bottom. She wears black boots which fit her along with white socks. The accessories include a white ribbon headband with a large bow.
